Alchemists and Physicians are a very good path to make doctor a super solid unit but in this build, we are going to focus on Surgeon for more HP and never-ending healing from behind.

You can avoid and ignore Early Experiment and Storage Room Key bcoz of their direct negative impact on the build. we can pick Indelible Protectorate, it has no condition and nothing negative for our Plague Doctor Build. It will provide a 20% bonus to healing. This Plague Build is going to create an invincible Plague Doctor.

The Highwayman is one of the playable 12 heroes in the video game Darkest Dungeon 2. Highwayman is one of the most used and most wanted heroes in the history of the Darkest Dungeon game. The class is known for its versatility and ability to deal high amounts of damage to enemies while also providing utility to the party.

In Darkest Dungeon 2, the Highwayman retains many of the iconic abilities and traits from the original game. They are skilled with ranged attacks, using a pistol or other firearms to target enemies from various positions in the party. The Highwayman is also adept at close combat, wielding a wicked blade for melee strikes when needed.

Darkest Dungeon 2 Highwayman Build Skills

Highwayman starts with Wicked Slice, Pistol Shot, Duelist’s Advance,  Tracking Shot, & Take Aim by default. There are more powerful and better skills available in the game for Highwayman but you need to unlock them with Shrine of Reflection.

As we have discussed earlier Highwayman can be played as a ranged, melee or hybrid. There are lots of options for Highwayman Build. Since Melee’s stance can outperform all other variants for Highwayman then we will go for Melee Build for Highwayman.

This build is not a viable tank option. You may try Highwayman as a Tank with the superlative and supportive healer in the team. But in this build, we are going to focus on too much melee damage from Highway Robbery and Take Aim. Still, all above mention skills of this melee build can out damaged any other build of Highwayman in the game to date.

In Darkest Dungeon 2, There is no path available to any hero at the start of the game. But there will be an option to obtain a path once you invest in The Living City. You can consider a path like an upgrade for a character. There are basically 3 paths in the game for every hero and of course, each path has a different impact and outcome on the character, build and entire progress of the unit.

Like all other units in the game, There are 3 unique paths available for Highwayman:-

As you can see in the above snapshot of all three available paths of Highwayman. Rogue buffs and provides 25% damage on Rank 1 but if Highwayman touches Rank 4 it will reduce the half damage Which is not viable for Highwayman at any cost. Sharpshot increases the Ranged damage by 25% but it reduces Melee Skill Damage by 25% which is absolutely “BIG NO” for This Melee build.

So, there is only one option left for this build is YellowHand. it will provide 15% health and shred melee 10% res on hit. Yellowhand is the best path to go for Highwayman Melee Build as it will proc the Highway Robbert Skill to steal positive buff from the target and remove the buff from the target with Double Cross Skill.

Yellowhand provides more powerful and viable utilities to the entire team like more speed, more health, and more resistance to allies. This is going to be the best path selection for Highwayman in any team if you wish to utilize the potential of the Highwayman at best.

Darkest Dungeon 2 Highwayman Trinkets

In Darkest Dungeon 2, Each hero has 3 Unique Trinkets exclusively available to them only like Paths. Each Trinket has a different impact and outcome on the character, build and entire progress of the unit.

Like all other units in the game, There are 3 unique Trinkets available for Highwayman:-

There are 3 unique Trinkets exclusively available for Highwayman in Darkest Dungeon 2. Rat Skull, Tormenting Locket, and Cursed Coin even if these unique trinkets are exclusive for Highwayman but it does not mean that these Trinkets are best in the slot for Highwayman.

Darkest Dungeon 2 has very unique and strange skills, abilities, and passives. As we know we have 3 trinkets for each character dedicated to a specific unit. but these trinkets come with a negative impact which can ruin the entire build and plan. but we should always get a way to get rid of these negative effects and make our build super solid.

So, in the case of Highwayman trinkets, there are 3 of them available for us, but we can easily negate and remove the negative impact of Tormenting Locket and Cured Coin.

Tormenting Locket adds a stack of stress on each Ranged Skill which can’t impact (can’t even touch) our build as we are building a melee character so it does not impact us at all. Cursed Coin will reduce crit stats if we cross 100 marks of relics which can be dodged easily. You can always spend relics at the inn and manage the relic below 100.

In short, we can pick and go with Tormenting Locket and Cursed Coin as the best trinket available for Highwayman in the Darkest Dungeon 2.

Laudanum, is one of the best items for Highwayman and especially for this melee build. Highwayman’s kit and build do not have an exact and proper way to manage and remove stress from himself. So, it may sound weird to run Laudanum all the time to remove stress. But as we discussed Highwayman is unable to handle stress at all.

Note:- You may use other combat items for buff or debuff etc and you can rely on a tank or healer to remove stress from you. but it would not be ideal for every situation and would not be available to utilise the tank and healer for this purpose always. Razor’s Wit and Fade to Black works great for survivability moving ahead and back one slack for the sake of safety. And in the end, Inspiring Tune interacts with STRESS. it can remove almost all stress if you know how to use Inspiring Tune properly.

As you can see in the above snapshot of all three available paths of Jester. Intermezzo and Soloist paths seem to be Bleed oriented and can boost bleed damage by themselves a lot. This is how one should build Jester with Bleed but if you look at the Virtuoso then you will realize that Jester’s actual potential is hidden behind this path.

Virtuoso provide more powerful and viable utilities to the entire team like more speed, more health, and more resistance to allies. This is going to be the best path selection for Jester in any team if you wish to utilize the potential of the Jester at best.

There are 3 unique Trinkets exclusively available for Jester in Darkest Dungeon 2. Severed Finger, Royal Summons and Bucker’s Haul even if these unique trinkets are exclusive for Jester but it does not mean that these Trinkets are best in slot for Jester.

Bucker’s Haunl seems very strong and powerful for Jester and matches his kit set very nicely. 25% damage reduction is a lot but it’s conditional if relics <25 seem a bit off to use. There will be issues and question marks about the uptime of this passive from Bucker’s Haul. If You can manage to keep relics <25 then nothing can beat these trinkets for Jester

The other two Royal and Finger performs very well in their own niche but that’s the problem with both of them. Royal and Finger are niche specific and limited to specific builds only. We should always go for universal passive with equal to perfect uptime passive. So for that, we have another choice here, There are some special trinkets in the Darkest Dungeon 2 that Can only be found in Academic’s Study Nodes. We will discuss all node’s processes and academic studies in another post.

There is another trinket named Befuddling Sundial which is perhaps, the best trinket available in the darkest dungeon 2. There is a 90% chance to heal the wearer and a 10% chance to stack the stress on the wearer. So, almost 100% Healing uptime is absolutely god-level passive and Jester can negate stress with ease so 10% stress can never hurt Jester at all.

In short, we can pick and go with Befuddling Sundial as the best trinket available for Jester in the Darkest Dungeon 2.
